I arrived back from Perth yesterday feeling extremely fatigued. Slept a cool 14 hours yesterday, woke up and felt really energised , so decided to live out one of my New Years Resolutions and went to the gym downstairs. 3 minutes on the treadmill and I had to stop as I had my first asthma attack in, say, 3-4 years? Maybe 5? Stupid I know. So, photos. Not many, and not very 'touristy'. But really my whole annual leave was just me taking it easy and catching up with my friends as much as I could. It got my neighbours talking. Seeing as though I still don't have my license, I was being picked up and dropped off everyday. By a different person everyday. On Monday Peter's friend Rhys saw me walking back home from Mulaloo and offered a lift. Tuesday Kris dropped me off. Wednesday it was Ivan. Thurday it was Darren. Friday it was Joel. Saturday it was Ivan and then Kris. My neighbours, Bob and Wilma, were asking my dad which one was my boyfriend, and then he'd ask me, and i'd have to explain to him that I'm still single and yeah it made for some interesting times. It also made me wonder where on earth have all my female friends disappeared to. Kris in his evil pose. We were at Pancho's in Vic Park, which has the best Mexican food I've ever tasted. Plus everything is candle-lit so if you have a special someone you want to take out this is a classy joint that won't break the bank. Went to Freo with Darren and stopped off here which is always a favorite. Fettucini Pollo from Marconi's. Best with a Lemon Lime and Bitters as well as some DDR action and shopping. Stopped here for some gelato because crappy Il Gelato don't put 2 flavours in the one cup/cone.(Despite the fact that for the past 4 years I've been going there they did it all the time without question.) Amaro's Jaffa gelato tasted better anyways. Picture of Mullaloo beach and my feet covered in sand. I'd never swam in so much seaweed before. Next up on my super brilliant (cough) roster is Kuwait. Hot meal service in 1.25 hours? Should be fun fun fun. Labels: Homesick, Random Thoughts 3 commentsSaturday, February 17, 2007
Hey guys, currently at DXB people watching. I have another 2 hours to kill before my flight begins boarding. I only just arrived from my Perth flight yesterday morning, and boy was I wrecked! The layover itself was mainly a non-event, just a short hello to my mum in Brightwater. Took me almost an hour by public transport to reach it, and when I arrived it was disappointing to find that all but one of the staff there weren't all that nice. You know, having to wait to see if I could get on the flight made me realise how much I appreciate working in the air as opposed to being ground staff. And how much my blood pressure can go up in such a short time. The poor guys cop a fair bit. I just saw this family, which must have had between 7-10 members, have this full on tamtrum about not getting seated together. On a London Heathrow flight. Seriously? You manage to get on the plane, yet you expect to be seated in one big group? C'mon! I'd be lucky to get 2 seats to myself and my meal of choice. Anyway, I'm an 11 hr flight away from Mulallo Beach! Never thought I'd get excited about it, but I haven't seen decent waves in over a year. See you all soon!!! Labels: Around Dubai, Homesick, Random Thoughts 0 commentsSunday, February 11, 2007
Hello guys and gals! I hope you're all doing splendidly well and having a brilliant time, wherever you may be.I just realised that I've recently passed a (minor) blogging milestone - I've been up for a whole year! Sheesh, I feel as if it's been only 3 months still. So, the stats for the site... total blog hits (since I put up adsense ads after the Gulf News article and found a way to count such visits) - 3015 Total posts - 93. Kinda disappointed I didn't manage to make the 100 mark, but hey, turnarounds are not realy worth writing and taking photos about. Total flights out of DXB - 61. To be honest I feel as if I've done more. Different Stamps in the passport - 4. China, Korea, UAE and Australia. When I joined I was looking forward to getting these, as it's like a badge of honour. Was disappointed to find out that this wasn't the case. Coolest Layover so far - Osaka, especially visiting Osaka castle during the cherry blossom season. Place I still want to visit the most - Kiev, Ukraine. Pity we don't fly there yet. If I do one thing over the next year of blogging, it will be - To visit the Burj Al Arab. I have another Perth flight coming up on Valentines Day which should be interesting (ie. the day will involve me cleaning out the aircraft of anything containing chocolate trying to repress feelings towards my pathetic single status) and after that my annual leave! I have to visit my mum on this trip though, as I was a bad daughter and didn't visit her on the 9th. Any sandgropers that want to catch up just send me an email and I'll see what I can conjure up. So we all know that Henrick Stenson just won the Dubai Desert Classic right?(from dubaidesertclassic.com) But what about the results that REALLY matter... Biggest Flirt/Playboy - Miguel Angel Jiminez. Yeah, a 42 yo with red curly hair, minor beer gut and leopard print golf shoes is a real turn on. Biggest Sook - Henrick Stenson. Yes, he may have won the tornament, but he could have done so without asking us to move all over the place. Wasn't really nice to us until after the win. Plus his caddy's really scary. Strangest Moment - After we were briefed ready to go out onto the 18th hole, we saw Michael Schumacher and his entourage of 20 walk along the 17th. 20 minutes later Roger Federer walked past. 3 of us girls nearly fainted. He's as hot in real life as he is on the telly. Who we wanted to win - Ernie Els or Ross Fisher. Both were really nice to us and didn't make a fuss. Plus Ernie was willing to take photos with some kids from the crowd which was pretty cool. Friendliest guys - Toss up between Colin Montgomery, Michael Campbell and Tiger Woods. Probably Woods, seeing as though he's part Thai and he was scoffing down 2 Kit Kats whilst chatting with us. Drama Queen - Lee Westwood. On more than one occasion he chucked a hissy fit at the crowd. Unlike Henrick he wasn't really in contention for the lead. Who to look out for when next at the TAB - Rory McIlroy. He's only 18 or so and he was on stage with us, Els, Schumacher, 6 Sheikhs, 5 falcons and Stenson. Very cool. The aura of greatness - Well, Greg Norman had it. But Sergio Garcia acted as if he was the best thing since sliced bread. I was kinda glad that he didn't make the cut. Woods had it too of course. So...after 6 days of slugging it out in heels on the green, it's time to go back to flying. (Thank God!) Have 2 trips to Perth, so I can't guarrentee photos. Unless you want to actually see Marangaroo, which comes second to Balga as the dodgiest Perth suburb. Labels: Around Dubai, Work 3 comments |
