Well guys, a lot has been happening lately. I just came back from a Kuwait turnaround, so I'm very very tired and fatigued. They made me in charge of the mid galley, as well as in charge of the door they use for boarding, and security checks, and I had to hand out meals as well as load them, so for a 1hr 15min flight I couldn't stop for a drink or meal or anything.I guess the biggest thing that's happened is that mum's had another stroke. She's doing well now, she's out of intensive care, but they had to operate on her which they didn't have to do the last time she suffered a stroke. I'm going to try to get a flight over to Perth, but it looks as if I can't get there until late July. I've also got my roster for next month - 15 days of reserve, then Paris (Yay!), Nagoya (Yay!), London Heathrow ;-(, and Glasgow, where I've flown to twice already. Considering everyone else just coming off reserve have to cop turnarounds for the rest of the month I'm pretty stoked. I've cracked the bidding system, and I'm not giving away my strategy to anyone. I also have some photos from my Frankfurt flight, which aren't that interesting since the World Cup parties had moved onto other cities. Enjoy what you can...
The thingos where they brew the beer at the pub we had dinner Ditto, except these are more shiny and pretty The huge beer dispensers - only 10 Euros! Hope to see you guys soon, either being pulled out for a Perth or at the end of July, will see how things go. 1 commentsSaturday, June 10, 2006
Sorry about the lack of updates guys, but I do have a good reason. Apparently my lovely laptop couldn't take the great beating it was getting traveling the globe, and as a result I need a new fan for it. It's been in the shop for a week now, so I'm pretty lonely not having my mates back in Oz to chat to.To add to the loneliness, Bridgette's finally moved out of the apartment. Which is an absolute joy, until I realised she took more than her fair share of the crockery and glassware with her. She also took both garbarge bins with her, so I'm left with just leaving it in plastic bags on the door handle until I can carry a new one. I don't know when I'll get a new roommate, apparently you can go from 2 weeks to 2 months without one, so I'm making the most of my independence. To celebrate her moving out, and as a birthday present to myself, I bought an LCD TV and subscribed to pay TV. (we don't get free to air here in the UAE in English). I also went to IKEA and splurged on some couch covers, mixing bowls, tongs, a garlic press, and storage boxes. Also on my last trip to Perth I wiped all my Aussie credit card debt, bought a kilo of bacon from Woolies, treated Mum and Peter to Dinner, Kris to breakfast, and scored a bottle of vintage Moet from Darren for $50. My next flight is tomorrow (I did a Cairo yesterday which was an absolute breeze) and I'm off to Frankfurt for the World cup. I only get 24 hours there, but it's enough time to party hard and to try some genuine bratwurst. Hopefully I can get some good photos and have them online very very soon. 1 comments |
